All Around Arkansas

So many people seem to have enjoyed my recent posts about KAAY 1090, so be looking for more in the days ahead— including one about meeting someone very special and legendary in the KAAY world!

This 1976 promotional belt buckle for KAAY “The Mighty 1090”, was manufactured by Lewis Buckles of Chicago, a company well known for producing brass promotional and commemorative buckles during the 1970s.

The buckle’s slogan, “KAAY Radio That Pays Off For You – 1090 On Your Dial,” reflects the station’s dominant Top 40 era when KAAY was one of the most powerful and influential radio stations in America.

This sign once stood proudly in front of KAAY’s studios on 7th Street in Little Rock. Today, it has found a new home near KAAY’s transmitter site off McDonald Road in Wrightsville, Arkansas—a lasting reminder of one of Arkansas radio’s most iconic stations.
