Little Poe is not doing very well. It’s been a little over a month since everything stared. I haven’t been wanting to share much about what is happening to Poet. It’s been stressful and to know he will have to live with this disease for the rest of his life makes everything worse.

Poet has something called Ehrlichiosis, he is at high risk of things going so bad if I’m not careful with him. This is a disease that can be life threatening to him. His fever was dangerously high when I rushed him to the vet. He needs to get bloodwork done 2-3 times a year, I’m constantly having to check his temperature, his immune system is weak at the moment and I’m a complete mess.

Yesterday while we were at the vet’s waiting room I heard that a dog had died from that disease. She fought hard and her momma did her best to her baby well but that wasn’t enough, it eventually got worse and she passed. My mind went to a dark place and I been so scared for my boy. Poet has been looking so sad lately with not much appetite.

However, because of how paranoid I am when it comes to my dogs that every little thing that doesn’t look right I take them to get checked we were able to catch it on time before the disease could progress to far that could have been fatal for Poet. He was on treatment for a month and it’s just a matter of being very careful with him. So now I’m being that over protective and annoying mom but I don’t care what everybody says about that because it’s the life of my boy the one at risk.
