Nelly Update ❤️

It’s now Sunday, and sweet Nelly still hasn’t been able to get up on her own… but boy, is she trying.

Today we gave her another round of IV fluids, and I think she’s enjoying the slightly cooler weather—if that’s even possible in Texas—with the overcast skies and a little bit of rain.

She’s eating and drinking like an absolute champ, which continues to encourage us. Every time she tries to stand, we can see a little more strength than the time before. Recovery from nerve damage is slow, but she’s showing us she hasn’t given up.

One of my favorite moments is when I sit beside her and scratch both of her cheeks. She’ll gently lean over and touch her nose to mine. It’s the sweetest little reminder that she’s still our Nelly.

We’re taking things one day at a time with IVs, medications, stretching, massages, helping her move, and giving her all the love we can. She’s putting in the work, and so are we.

Please continue to keep Nelly in your prayers. We’re hopeful that with time, patience, and a whole lot of determination, she’ll be back on all four feet where she belongs. ❤️

Big news here at Rocking Lazy L Ranch!

We are beyond excited to announce that we are now the proud owners of Sweeet Spot (Spots Hot × Sweet Metallic), affectionately known around the barn as Spot.

From the moment we met her, everything just seemed to fall into place. Spot brings an incredible pedigree, a great mind, and a personality that has quickly made her a barn favorite. She is currently in cutting training and will be making her way to the show pen soon, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch her career unfold.

But before Spot gets back to focusing on her training, we have one more exciting chapter to add to her story. We were fortunate enough to secure a breeding to BadBoonsArising, and Spot is being bred today! In a little over a week, she will be flushed so the fertilized embryos can be transferred into a recipient mare, allowing Spot to continue her training and showing career uninterrupted.

To say we’re excited would be an understatement. We truly believe Spot has a bright future ahead of her, both in the breeding barn and in the show pen, and we can’t wait to share the journey with all of you.

Meet Josie.

This sweet girl made her arrival calm, easy, and peaceful. Gracie was an absolute rockstar mama, and so far Josie has been curious, gentle, independent, and already loves a good butt scratch.

She’s out of Lil Boogie Spoon × Plain Catty, and we’re pretty excited about this little cowhorse prospect.

We’re not quite ready to announce her registered name yet… but we think we’ve narrowed it down to a few favorites 🐴✨
