Our OC Housing Partners team is small but mighty, working to address the big need in our communities for affordable, stable, and safe homes. They partner with affordable housing developers to create new housing and connect the residents of more than 7,000 homes with resources like service providers and community support. Here, members of the team, OC staff, and friends took a picture at the Housing WA Annual Conference.

TenantConnect Staff noticed that Riverview Apartments, an OCHP-affiliated property, had installed a Community Garden in which residents were able to reserve a plot to grow their own healthy produce. TenantConnect collaborated with leasing staff to submit the Master Gardener Program Application. The application was approved and the Master Gardener Program provided gardening skill sessions and on-going garden support to residents living at Riverview Apartments.
Residents at the property were invited to attend the Master Gardener Skills Session that was held on Tuesday, May 24th. The households who attended gained practical gardening skills and helped build community within their complex while engaging with one another. This event was a big success and TenantConnect plans to use it as a template partnership with WSU at other OCHP-affiliated complexes.

An example of the work that Opportunity Council provides is Resource and Referral for all residents living within the communities.
A client story from TenantConnect :
Kevin, Program Coordinator, spoke over the phone to a resident in Snohomish County, residing within one of HNN Communities. The resident explained that he received TenantConnect information from their Leasing Staff and was hoping to get some resource support. The resident was behind on his rent because he was unable to work as much as usual because of some medical issues. Further, he explained, it was hard for him to navigate local services as English was a second language.
Kevin was able to listen to the residents’ concerns and gave him a direct referral for a social worker at Verdant Health in Lynnwood that should be able to support the resident in addressing his needs. Kevin also followed up with the social worker to let her know the resident would be reaching out to her as well as noted that English was the residents second language as they may request interpreter services.
