York Community Farm

Intro time!!
I’m Ellie (she/her) the new manager at York Community Farm. This Spring I started a new position at the Center for Community Learning at WWU that is centered around convening food systems and local farming efforts, and also includes stewarding the York Farm!
I couldn’t be more excited to be working with an awesome team of WWU students this season, learning together and growing vegetables, fruit, flowers and seed crops.
A little about me:
I’m originally from Montana and moved to the PNW ~7 years ago. For the past 5 years I have been co-running City Sprouts Farm in the birchwood neighborhood. My little red herding dog Freya rarely leaves my side. I am a major nerd about winter squash, and I am super passionate about connecting people to each other and the land through the joy of farming!

Weeds used to grow there. Now, a new greenhouse at this farm could raise more than food York Community Farm in Bellingham, Wash., is raising money for a greenhouse so it can extend its growing season and hire more disabled veterans, homeless and recently incarcerated people.
