The end of an era of pie
BELLINGHAM, WA—November 20, 2018. After over eight years of business, the well-loved Railroad Avenue eatery Man Pies has closed its doors.
Man Pies, which serves house-made meat and vegetable pies, was the brainchild of owner Bryce Sharp. Formerly a French chef at Napa Valley winery restaurants including Domaine Chandon and Far Niente, Sharp had recently relocated to Bellingham. “I’d just been to Australia and fallen in love with their meat pies,” he recalls. So, he cashed in his retirement account to open the restaurant.
Man Pies has been a strong supporter of the Bellingham community, donating over $15,000 in cash and gift certificates to local schools, trail-building programs, charity auctions, and other programs over the years. In 2011, Man Pies was the winner of all three categories of the Bite of Bellingham.
But Sharp and his mom, Sharon Curran, who manages the restaurant day to day, say it’s time to move on. Man Pies has closed this week for the Thanksgiving holiday and will not reopen.
Sharp, Curran, and the rest of the Man Pies family wish to thank the Bellingham community for their love and support. It was a good run.
