In his recent opinion piece, local architect Stuart Emmons suggested how the private sector could play a larger role in helping resolve homelessness in our region ("A plan to transform Portland together," Oct. 11). One of his ideas includes creating a private sector leadership team composed of real estate, housing, finance, and construction experts to advise on how best to build housing for 4,000 homeless people in two years. As he suggests, this is a bold idea required to address a huge problem.
