What does a Surveyor do in construction?
Surveyors update boundary lines and prepare sites for construction so that legal disputes are prevented. Surveyors make precise measurements to determine property boundaries. They provide data relevant to the shape and contour of the Earth's surface for engineering, map making, and construction projects.

Elevation Certificates: Who Needs Them and Why:
If your home or business is in a high-risk area,
your insurance agent will likely need an Elevation
Certificate (EC) to determine your flood insurance
premium. Floods mean rising water. Knowing your
building’s elevation compared to the estimated
height floodwaters will reach in a major flood helps
determine your flood risk and the cost of your flood
insurance. An EC documents the elevation of your
building for the floodplain managers enforcing local
building ordinance, and for insurance rating purposes.

Extreme cold weather or heat can also affect survey instruments. Some instruments have certain temperature ratings, and if operated outside that range, the accuracy of the measurement can be affected.
Field crews work in all kinds of weather conditions to get the job done and take care of the client. Proper safety training and knowing the equipment’s limitations will help get the project completed within the appropriate accuracy tolerances while keeping field crews safe. The public can help with this by slowing down when coming upon a field crew or keeping a watch out for the crews when working along a road way.
