In Newari culture of Nepal, this stone is placed in front of each house. A certain fruit smeared on the stone signifies birth. Another fruit signifies death. The community could know either one by passing by in front. Do we have anything like this that allows others to mourn with us or rejoice with us? Maybe 100 years ago?
