Experimentation is important. It took a lot of testing to develop our process. Even with a fairly consistent process now though, every piece is different.

With old furniture it’s impossible to know all of its prior adventures. We have no way to know what has been spilled on a piece, or what products have been used to clean it. Imagine spilled nail polish, candle wax, food. We try not to think about it too much, but instead be prepared for anything.
