We're excited to share that our year-long collaboration with โ€”made possible through the grantโ€”is ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ!

In March 2025, NYFIC awarded our collaboration proposal with Seed2Shirt, a member of the Climate Beneficial Fiber Alliance, to develop a yarn blending our NYS Climate Beneficialโ„ข wool and alpaca with upland cotton from Black-owned farms in Seed2Shirt's Climate Beneficialโ„ข network.

Through this collaboration, we created woven yardage and two knit pieces that ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ก๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜€๐˜†๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜๐˜๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜โ€”supporting ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—น๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€ while helping ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฒ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป in both regions.

The fiber blend: 25% NYS Wool, 25% NYS Alpaca, 50% Upland Cotton.

This is a lighter, transitional-weight yarn designed to bridge seasons: breathable from the cotton, with warmth and gentle loft from the wool and alpaca. Itโ€™s made to feel substantial without being heavyโ€”ideal for everyday wear from early fall through late spring.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a role in bringing this collaboration to life!

The three pillars of the Carbon Farm Network.

The fashion industry tends to reward excessive production, and to keep extractive practices far from the eyes of consumers and even from designers. The ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐›๐จ๐ง ๐…๐š๐ซ๐ฆ ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค, and the way we structure our cooperative, is the exact opposite. We want to highlight and collaborate directly with our growers. We want to know who is growing, processing, and creating our yarn.
We donโ€™t reward overproduction for the sake of lower prices. Instead, we work cooperatively to reach production minimums and to distribute costs according to each brandโ€™s production needs.
Together, we create a regional system for sensible production - producing high-quality, local, traceable, Climate Beneficialโ„ข Verified yarn.
