I always like to play along on this day because it makes me happy to see pictures in my feed of everyone and their siblings…so, happy Siblings Day to my big sister!

So proud of our courthouse staff for all the hard work they did today. I asked my final group of individuals in court to thank every person they saw on their way out of the courthouse. These days don’t happen without all the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes. So very thankful for them.
'I can't go to jail today:' Hundreds of warrants resolved, lives changed In a day about forgiveness, a line of people filled with anxiety and relief wrapped around the Baton Rouge City Court building, waiting for their chance at a fresh start.

Myself and many judges from our local courts will be participating in this warrant resolution clinic on Friday. Of note, Baton Rouge City Court will stop accepting individuals at 1:00 p.m.
A special thank you to our Baton Rouge City Court staff for all of the preparation they are doing to make this a successful clinic. Please spread the word.

Had the privilege of hosting the 5th grade class of St. James Episcopal Day School in my courtroom this afternoon. They learned a little about city court, then everyone had a chance to ask us questions from our witness chair. I was asked what is one of my favorite parts about my job, and that answer was simple - getting to do things like this!
Thank you to our court staff, teachers, and chaperones for setting up this really fun day for the kids to learn about our great court.
I think we may have some future lawyers and judges in this photo… 👩🏻⚖️

Had a blast this morning with my colleages serving as a judge at the first round of this year’s high school mock trial competiton. I was so impressed with the advocacy skills of these high school students, and their creative objections kept this judge on her toes all morning! 😂
Thank you to all the volunteers and coaches, and best of luck to all the students. Mock Court is adjourned! 👩🏻⚖️

Thanks for all the messages this week about the article in the Louisiana State Bar Association magazine announcing me as a new judge.
I’ve loved reading these articles and seeing my peers over the years who have joined the bench, and it’s been wonderful hearing from colleagues all over the state this week as the copies are going out.
What an honor it is to have been elected to this job. I don’t take a single day for granted. Thank you all!

I’ve had the pleasure of having several groups of students observing in my courtroom over the last few weeks. We had students from St. Joseph's Academy Baton Rouge two weeks ago, and today I had these seniors at The Dunham School, as well as some law students from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. I really enjoy teaching these students a little something about the good work we do here at Baton Rouge City Court!

This week we lost the chairman of our four legged campaign committee, Roux Dog. For the last 12 years of his very full and wonderful 16 years of life he was my constant companion.
He took his job with the campaign very seriously. He helped me deliver shirts and signs, was our most popular sign waver (despite not being able to actually hold a sign), and he welcomed me home from long and stressful campaign days with a tail wag and a smile. The final pic is shortly after the win had been called on election night. All his hard work had paid off!
We could all learn a lesson from dogs. We should all strive to live with that level of loyalty, kindness, and zest for life. He was truly one of the best to ever do it and will be missed dearly.
Thank you to all our family, friends, and my court staff for all of your love this week. ❤️🩹
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year! 2025 was an incredible year, and I’m looking forward to all the good work we will do for our city in 2026.
