Sometimes the smallest creatures tell the biggest stories.

LSU graduate student Ahmani Browne is leading a team of researchers in Grand Isle, Louisiana, studying marsh periwinkle snails to better understand how warming temperatures are changing coastal ecosystems and wildlife habitats. These tiny snails are valuable bioindicators because their health reflects the condition of the environment around them, making them an important tool for tracking ecological change.

Through research like this, LSU is helping advance the science needed to better understand and protect Louisiana's coast.
