Our ASPRS student members recently attended and presented their research at the American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting 2026!

Representing the University of Arkansas, they shared innovative geospatial research, engaged with the broader academic community, and built valuable professional connections. Proud to see our members contributing to the future of geospatial science!

ASPRS members from UARK had an exciting time at the 2025 Southwest Division of the American Association of Geographers Conference in Las Cruces, NM! They showcased groundbreaking research, with Sahar Rezaei earning an impressive 2nd place in the poster competition. A huge thank you to the Department of Geosciences for their generous support in making this incredible opportunity a reality!

How do you clearly and effectively communicate your scientific concepts to researchers, funding agencies, media, employers, and the general public?

In today’s session, we interactively explored questions such as:

What do you do, and why should others care?

What’s the broader impact of your work?

Why did you begin studying what you’re studying?

We discussed the importance of tailoring your scientific word choices to suit your audience. Whether you’re seeking to inspire curiosity, secure funding, or simply share knowledge, effective communication is key.
