If you receive one, that number is mandatory for filing your tax return.

Planning to file early or request a refund advance starting January 2?
Your IP PIN must be entered exactly as issued or your return will not process.

❌ Missing or incorrect IP PIN =
• Return rejected
• Advance denied
• Filing delayed

If the IRS has ever issued you an IP PIN — the bank already knows.
There are no overrides and no workarounds.

This applies to taxpayers who have:
• Had identity theft or fraud in the past
• Enrolled in IP PIN protection
• Been assigned an IP PIN previously
