I shared this with our staff when I returned from the LMHPCO conference. It’s about one of our nurses that Mr Garner referenced several times during his presentation. It’s very worthy to share with everyone who has experienced what hospice is in some sort of fashion.
Tanya, this is Steven Garner who met you
when he was in Angola. He thanked you several times throughout his presentation here at the LMHPCO Conference for the difference you made in his life and the lives and deaths you touched when the Angola Hospice program began. He said you asked him for a quilt and it changed his life. He now continues to quilt and is featured in magazines, museums and tv shows. Now he travels to other prisons to help facilitate the starting of other prison hospice programs. Did you ever imagine your time spent with Mr Garner would someday continue to help prisoners all over the United States to learn what compassion, dignity and stewardship means. Your gifts that you give to helping those live while dying are what hospice is all about. We love you Tanya. Thank you for difference you continue to make. And Mr Garner says tell “Mother Goose I said hello”
