Using someone's correct name and pronouns isn't a small thing to us; it's how we live out the belief that every person is made in the image of God. At MCCBR, that's not a policy; it's a practice of dignity we hold for our trans and gender-diverse family. Pastor James is talking about a recent story making headlines around trans affirmation and what it means for how we show up for each other.
Our faith doesn't stay inside the building.
It shows up at city council meetings. It feeds hungry neighbors. It stands with LGBTQ+ youth, with immigrants, with the unhoused, with everyone our society pushes to the margins.
Because that's where Jesus spent his time — the margins. If we want to find him, that's where we look.
Faith that doesn't show up isn't faith. It's just opinion. ✊💜
