In October 2024, the City of Baton Rouge Division of Human Development and Services/Office of Social Services launched the Ride to Work Pilot Program to help justice-impacted residents overcome transportation barriers to employment. Through a partnership with the Louisiana Parole Project, eligible participants received electric bicycles to support job retention, financial stability, and long-term self-sufficiency in East Baton Rouge Parish.
During its first 16 months, the Ride to Work Pilot Program measurably improved employment retention and financial stability by providing reliable transportation that helped participants maintain employment, meet basic needs, and build toward long-term self-sufficiency in East Baton Rouge Parish.
