From the Southern University Police Department, we want to extend a sincere thank you to Tyliana Jones, Donna Burks, and Roz Davis (Capital Area Human Services) for hosting such a powerful and impactful event.

Mental health is wealth—and conversations like these are how we continue to break barriers, reduce stigma, and truly show up for one another. Our crisis response team is committed to pushing forward, creating safe spaces, and ensuring that support is always within reach for our students and community.

Events like this remind us that strength isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about speaking up, checking in, and standing together.

We appreciate your leadership, your voice, and your dedication to making a difference. 💙

This week, we proudly recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week—a time to honor the voices behind the scenes who keep everything moving when it matters most.

Our dispatchers are the calm in the chaos. The steady voice on the other end of the line. The ones who answer every call—no matter the hour, no matter the situation—and make sure help gets where it needs to go.

While officers may be the ones you see, dispatchers are the ones who make it all happen. Every call taken, every unit directed, every life impacted starts with them.

To our dispatch team: we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our community safe.

Southern University Police Department is grateful for each and every one of you.
