Happy YMCA Founder’s Day! 182 years ago, a small group of young people in London sparked an
idea that would grow into a global movement - a place for belonging, wellness, and community for all.

Today, the Y is still where people find connection, purpose, and the chance to become their best selves.

From 1844 to 2026 (and beyond) there’s no place like this place. We’re a family. A support system. A force for good.

Share how the Y has shaped your life. Tag us and share your Y story to celebrate 182 years of community!

Water Smart Rule #6: Know What to Do (Before You Need To)

Emergencies don’t wait. Learn how to recognize signs of distress, call for help, and respond calmly. Don’t jump in the water to save a friend who is struggling – use a long object to reach for them and pull them to safety.

Bonus: Take a CPR or water safety class, because heroes aren’t born, they’re trained.

This month, we are proud to feature Denise Recatto as our Member Spotlight!

Denise has been part of the Y family for eight years. She joined with the goal of improving her health and taking time to focus on herself and her well-being.

At the Y, Denise especially enjoys participating in Light & Low, chair aerobics, and water aerobics classes. She shares that the Y has brought many positive changes to her life, including the opportunity to meet new friends and become part of a supportive community. Denise says the welcoming, family-like atmosphere is what makes every visit to the Y special to her.

When asked what she would say to someone thinking about joining, Denise enthusiastically shared: “It will change your life! I promise you, you will never regret being a part of the Y family. I love the Y.”
