Giant Scissors, Red Ribbon and the Mayor - It's That Time!

Threatening weather did not put a damper on the River Center Theatre's official Ribbon Cutting on March 22, 2022! The focus was on the Theatre’s stunning updates from the jaw-dropping lobby to every seat within the theatre providing amazing (and comfortable) views of the action on stage. A string quartet set the mood for the event with specially designed cookies to mark the occasion as mementos for attendees! With all local news stations present, ASM Global's General Manager, Wayne Hodes, kicked things off, followed by Visit Baton Rouge's President and CEO, Paul Arrigo (celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year), and brought home by Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome's congratulations and cutting of the ribbon! Lisa H. Nice, Owner of Post Architects and Project Architect for the Theatre, lead a tour of the facility. The event was the official reintroduction of this Baton Rouge staple to the City it calls home!

Post Architects would like to send out special thanks to: Mayor Weston-Broome's administration for supporting the project; our founder, Skipper Post, for showing us how it's done; our associate architect, HMS for their theater expertise; all of our many, many consultants that worked on this project - we could not have done it without you (RAA, TLA, AST, BAi, TCC, MLA); the contractor, Buquet & LeBlanc for executing our design vision; and our amazing staff (past - Doug, Megan, Raysan, and present - Di, Brian, Steve, Matt, Victoria and BMAC) for all the blood sweat and tears shed to get this done (including photography for this event by Steve, the project's unsung hero as project manager for this bear). Thank you all!

Special Guests (below): Reps from L to R: BRSO (Eric Marshal, Ex. Dir.), BRBT (Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews, Co-Art. Dir.), VBR (Paul Arrigo, Pres.& CEO), City of BR/Parish of EBR (Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome), ASM Global (Wayne Hodes, GM), Post Architects (Lisa H. Nice, Project Architect), and Buquet & LeBlanc (Rob Liles, Pres.).

The renovated River Center Performing Arts Theatre steps into the 21st century - [225] 04/04/2022

"The Renovated River Center Performing Arts Theatre Steps Into the 21st Century"...Post receives further accolades from 225 Magazine.
The River Center Theatre for Performing Arts, as a historical backdrop, features updates that pay homage to its 70's design era, like the sunburst ceiling in the new lobby, while showcasing the new functionality of the Theatre as a flexible performing arts venue for many years to come. One might say the design team, led by Post, 'broke a leg' on this one!

"The new lobby space alone (by Post) should almost be enough to attract even the most sophisticated traveling acts…"

The renovated River Center Performing Arts Theatre steps into the 21st century - [225] The 1970s gave us plenty of trends to savor as memories: feathered hair, s**g carpets, lava lamps … but by the time 40 years have passed, a few updates may be in order. That was the idea behind the renovations to the River Center Performing Arts Theatre, open now for a new spring season of...
