Not every dog you see needs to be pet.
Just because a dog is out in public doesn't mean they're there for your entertainment. Some dogs are working, training, recovering from fear or reactivity, or simply enjoying time with their owners. Just like people, dogs deserve personal space and the ability to choose their interactions.
Before approaching any dog, always ask the owner for permission—and if the answer is no, respect it. Don't take it personally. A responsible owner knows their dog best and is advocating for their comfort and safety.
And while we're at it, give the owners some space too. Being questioned, judged, or pressured because a dog doesn't want to interact gets old fast.
Respect boundaries. Respect dogs. Respect their owners.
The world would be a much safer and less stressful place for everyone if we normalized leaving dogs alone unless invited otherwise.
Sincerely, Mojo (and every other working dog in this 🌎)
