You know all those natural products I recommend to my clients to keep on hand? 🌿

Last night, I had to dive into my own toolbox.

Because, of course, one of my dogs decided to develop a pretty pronounced hotspot on her face.... late at night… on a holiday weekend. 🙄

After assessing the area closely, I felt comfortable starting supportive care at home while monitoring her carefully throughout the weekend. (And yes — if it worsens or doesn’t improve, we will absolutely head to the vet. Natural support is never meant to replace necessary veterinary care.)

So what did I do first?

✂️ Trimmed the fur around the area carefully with scissors and clippers so the skin could breathe and stay clean.

🩶 Cleaned the area with Adored Beast Apothecary Colloidal Silver — one of my favorite staples to always keep on hand for situations like this.

🌿 Mixed up a soothing hotspot/wound spray with essential oils, aloe vera juice and coconut oil to help keep the area clean, calm, and itch-free.

🦠 Added her daily probiotic support this morning and will gave her a doTERRA On Guard Softgel with dinner for extra immune support.

🐶 And yes… the cone is on. She hasn’t been bothering it much, but I’d rather prevent her from scratching it open and setting us back.

📍Our plan this weekend:
Clean + silver + spray 3–4 times daily while monitoring closely for healing and comfort.

Moments like this are exactly why I teach my clients how to build a natural pet wellness toolkit and feel prepared for common situations at home. It’s not about avoiding the vet — it’s about knowing how to confidently support your dog when appropriate and recognizing when additional care is needed.

Honestly, there’s something incredibly empowering about not panicking when these things happen and instead being able to calmly say:

“Okay. I know where to start.”
