Hey science teachers - got a quick one for you.

A new PNAS paper from researchers Müller, Steels, and Szathmáry argues that today's AI systems may be approaching what they call a "Darwinian threshold" - a point at which AI could begin to exhibit the four pillars of biological evolution: replication, heredity, variation, and selection.

Whether the argument holds up is its own debate. But the framing is a great way to remind students that the concepts they're learning in biology - variation, selection, adaptation - aren't just about the past. They're showing up in conversations about technology, ethics, and the future.
