I recently needed transportation to an in-person doctor’s office. I was completely unable to walk or leave my home for some time and came very close to cancelling a long awaited appointment. There are many medical transport services that are not only very costly but few will enter the patient’s home and assist them until they are outside the home. In my case this was not possible. After many phone calls and internet searches and frustration I was told of a service by Atlantic Private Care Services. This group has a grant with Morris County, NJ that at no cost to the patient they will transport them to their appointment including entering their home and assisting them to their destination in an ambulette. They must be either 60 and over or have a permanent physical disability. An assigned aide remains with you throughout the visit and the entire trip giving added assurance and comfort. A few days before I received phone calls from Atlantic to discuss what was needed and they also Googled a picture of my home to determine if it was possible. They also came to my home to do necessary paperwork and make certain that the trip was doable. I am very grateful to Atlantic Private and Morris County for providing this service. Knowing that there are such services to assist home bound patients with essential services is a blessing and I am grateful.
