What a beautiful season it’s been! I’ve been so immersed in the moment (and in the soil) that I’ve barely posted at all—fully unplugged and loving it. I’m excited to share some of the highlights! 🌱

This weekend, Pauline Aka mom (who you’ll hear more and more about), Kate Sexton, and I spent two blissful hours harvesting sweet potatoes—mostly by hand.

Sweet potatoes are Pauline’s passion project, something she’s been experimenting with for a few years now.

This year, she nailed the timing on half, and we were blessed with an abundant harvest, including a few massive potatoes! šŸ„”

Timing is everything when it comes to sweet potatoes—some were planted a month apart just to test it out, and it made all the difference. 🤯

We managed to harvest just before the first frost, which is crucial because sweet potatoes left out in the frost almost always rot.

After harvesting, we’re ā€œcuringā€ them in a controlled environment (Pauline’s garage this time). Over the next two weeks, the sweet potatoes will sweeten up and they will harden, making them ready to enjoy.

This whole process is something new we’re learning together, with Pauline leading the way, and far more fluent in the language of sweet potatoes.

I’m excited to be part of this and can’t wait to see how next season goes—hopefully with an even earlier start for the potato slips and drying them in the high tunnel next season. Here’s to sweet moments, sweet harvests, and sweet family & friends! šŸ’›
