𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟯 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿:
All 3 types of stress trigger the same response in the body, which is a surge cortisol. Prolonged cortisol surges will negatively impact the gut and your hormones, as well as your quality of life, focus, sleep, etc.... It's a huge energy leak.
Here are the 3 types of stress:
1. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: This type of stress is something stressful that is actually occurring that may or may not require your immediate attention. It often will generate a surge of cortisol or adrenaline to get the job done. An example is: a toddler wanders close to a busy street or you just broke your leg.
2. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Something you anticipate may be stressful and at some point, it may need your attention but normally out of your control until it becomes Actual. An example is: You are anticipating a phone call from your boss and worried you might be getting laid off or you are planning a wedding and trying to plan around the weather.
3. 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Something you imagine might be stressful. This is where our brains usually go and generates unnecessary high levels of cortisol. An example is: You are worried that you won't be invited to your friends birthday party or you're worried you won't wake to an alarm for an early bird flight.
𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, take a second to identify which type of stress it is. Will it matter if you stress about it, can you do something about it.....is it worth the vital energy leak?
𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽:
Since we usually go to a "worst case scenerio" in our brains, identify a middle case scenerio and a best case scenerio. This helps calm the nervous system and become in a less stressed, more healing state when there are other possible outcomes that are more appealing.
Anticipated and Imagined stress usually becomes a major energy leak and if you can get control of what's important and what's not, you will be better off.
