Practices take place at either Basalt Elementary School (BES) or Basalt Middle School (BMS). Games start the week of January 16th and conclude the week of February 20th, with a playoff/tournament to end the season taking place the week of February 27th. Practices will start at 5:30pm or later due to gym availability. Specific practice schedules will be provided by the end of November, when we have coaches for each team. Teams will have practices either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, with games taking place any days M-Th starting on January 16. Games will be played against rec teams from Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and other Basalt teams.

A few more things to expect:
• Teams are formed into two categories: 3rd and 4th grades, and 5th and 6th grades. Boys and Girls are in separate leagues. So we will have 3rd/4th boys, 3rd/4th girls, 5th/6th boys and 5th/6th girls teams.
• Team practices are twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice time will be emailed after the teams are formed.
• Games start during the week of January 16th and game schedules will also be emailed once teams are formed so that league managers know how many teams to schedule from each town.
• 3rd/4th grade teams play on 8 foot hoops, 5th/6th grade teams play on 10 foot hoops.
• Each team will play at least 6 regular season games plus 2-3 tournament/playoff games.
• Our goal is to start practices in December. This is based on coach schedules and gym availability. If you miss the December practices, that’s OK! We will update each participant as we form our practice schedules, and they will start the week of January 9 at the latest.

Swim lessons are now posted on the Basalt Recreation registration website! We have a variety of offerings posted and will be adding more on a rolling basis over the summer.
