Last night's Messy Play program had a lot of mixed opinions. Many of our friends absolutely loved squishing and picking up their Chia Seed slime, others poked it once and were done. It was definitely a sensory experience.

Today, for our story and craft, we read “Potato Pants” by Laurie Keller. After listening to Potato’s quest to buy a pair of pants we set out to make our own fashionable paper spuds.

Last week, we had an incredible time exploring the art of metalsmithing with Heather Beck of Heather Beck Designs!

Participants created beautiful copper bookmarks personalized with names, patterns, quotes, and original designs. Heather was very patient, encouraging, and engaging with everyone throughout the workshop and naturally introduced us to the art and science of metalsmithing, teaching us why the copper needed to be prepared before it was ready to stamp and shape into finished pieces. It was the perfect blend of creativity and learning!

Every participant left with a one-of-a-kind piece that reflected their own personality and artistic vision, as well as a creation we hope they enjoy for years to come!

The Town Clerk’s Office will be open Friday, July 17, from 9 AM–5 PM for voter registration and in-person absentee voting for qualified voters. Vote-by-Mail applications and more information are available at the Town Clerk’s Office and at www.townofbarre.com.

Important deadlines:
- July 17 (5 PM) – Last day to register to vote
- July 21 (5 PM) – Last day to apply for a Vote-by-Mail ballot
- July 27 (12 PM) – Last day for in-person absentee voting
- July 28 (12 PM–6 PM) – Polls are open for in-person voting
- July 28 (6 PM) – All ballots to be returned to the Town Clerk's office
