What happens if a fire extinguisher isn’t inspected regularly?
Short answer: you may not know it won’t work—until it’s too late.
Fire extinguishers require routine inspections and maintenance to ensure they’re fully charged, accessible, and ready for use. Even small issues like pressure loss or blockage can make them ineffective.
Here’s what’s required:
-Monthly visual inspections
-Annual maintenance checks
-Internal inspections every 5–6 years (depending on type)
-Hydrostatic testing on a set schedule
Why does it matter?
Because extinguishers are often your first line of defense in a fire.
If they fail, the situation escalates fast.

What's a domestic backflow, and why does the city care if it's working?
If your building is on city water, you have one.
A backflow is the assembly that protects the public drinking water supply from contamination flowing back out of your building.
If pressure drops in the city line, water inside your building can siphon backward into the public supply.
The backflow stops that from happening.
Here's what to know:
- Commercial domestic backflows require annual testing
- Fire protection backflows require annual testing
- The report goes on file to the municipality
Have questions about your backflow or when it was last tested? Reach out anytime.
