A Farm to Face Farewell
My Dear Friends, Amazing Colleagues, and Brilliant Community of Baltimore,
I have some bittersweet news: We have made the hard decision to close up shop.
For 15 years it has been my greatest pleasure to create locally sourced whole foods for you with the utmost proclivity of thought and love. This journey through food and community has been one of the most exciting and inspiring endeavors of my entire life. When we started we were just a little farmers market stand but you helped us grow into something so much more.
On most market days we would wake up before the sun, set up our tents and tables while laughing and catching up with our market family. Just as the glimmer of dawn would encroach on the horizon, there before us was always the most miraculous palette of fresh farm-grown ingredients, colors, and textures that begged to be manipulated into edible sustenance.
It always would fill me with so much joy to come up with the most absurd overlapping flavor profiles to share with you through this rich abundance of farm-grown local love. Whether you would visit us at the cafe or farmers markets you would always be welcomed into our house. You would know the warmth and delight that we always felt in providing the most integral form of service to you…. Food and Sustenance made entirely from the heart.
I have been so blessed to encounter and work with the most remarkable team of individuals who not only loved working with in the Farm to Face family, but who also believed in our mission. With gratitude we worked tirelessly to bring the magic of our culinary art to you. We are so beyond belief of the support that you have given us for over a decade and can not thank you enough for that.
I have seen your children grow up and go off to college. I learned your favorite colors based off the paper straw you chose for your lemonade. I have relished in the excitement of major milestones in your lives and heard about all of the glorious things that you do with in this beautiful community of Baltimore. You are not just customers to me… you have been an extension of my family.
With all of this being said it brings me great sadness to inform you that we will be shuttering our doors and closing up our tents in April. There is no definitive reason why we are closing…. There are several, but I don’t want to analyze, pinpoint, and focus on that. I am completely relishing in the beautiful journey that I got to share with my Baltimore community and that is all I need as I bring this chapter of Farm to Face to a close.
Fear not my friends: this is not the complete end of Farm to Face. We have several scheduled pop ups, and future festivals. Perhaps you may even see a cook book with all of your favorite Farm to Face creations.
For now I leave you with this…..
Choose to support small businesses and your local economy. Be sure you reciprocate the energy that is given to you by the artists and creators with in Baltimore. Go see a play, an art opening, a concert. Check in with your favorite gift shop, support everything local, buy a book from an independent bookstore, eat at our local food establishments, choose to shop at the farmers markets, and get involved with your community. It’s so so important. May peace, joy, health, and prosperity always be with you Baltimore. Thank you for everything.
With Love and Infinite Gratitude
