Spring is Springing in Baltimore and it’s the perfect day to be out and about with the best daughters on earth! They had me WORKING today!

At this stage in the game, relationships that last are truly priceless. is a brother, mentor, friend, partner, sounding board, sparring partner 😆, uncle, and just a genuinely beautiful soul. My life has been enhanced by your many gifts, O and I am eternally grateful for your presence in my life. Happiest of birthdays!!!

P.S. forgive my lameness for not hanging last night. Things ain’t what they used to be. 😩

A little over a week ago, I had the pleasure of returning home to perform with the Packard Band at The Packard Music Hall. The same location that I and my siblings walked across the stage for graduation. I’m grateful that the community showed up. As you swipe, I’ll introduce you to some of the most impactful folks in my life:

1. My family. Mother, sister, brother and cousins.

2. Jessica Turner. My sixth grade band teacher who gave me my first jazz album, “TUTU” Miles Davis.

3. My pediatrician, Dr. Vlad who encouraged me to play a wind instrument to help with asthma.

4. Pastor Melvin. Countless nights of deep prayer and ministry providing me with the foundation that would inform much of my spirituality today.

5. Lynn Marlin. My Middle school and high school band director. She would write hall passes for me to practice throughout the day, encouraging me to go as far as I could in music.

6. David Lamon “money” Howard. Leader of the horn section “sounds of victory” that toured all over Ohio and western PA when I was in high school. Money is my musical big brother and introduced me to countless albums.

7. Mr Biviano. His family owned Biviano music. The music store that provided me with my first trumpet.

8. Doug Franklin. Mayor of Warren, OH. Providing deep access to key services for decades.

9. My Brothers Melvin Jr, Bill Bell and Walter Robinson. All huge influences on my life (good and bad… 😂) jk

10. The Packard band trumpet section. Special shout out to John Venesky who helped me tremendously durnjng undergrad at YSU.

I represent what is possible in this country when a group of diverse community members rally around a young and relatively peculiar child. These slides represent various walks of life. What they all have in common is that they all love me and poured into me. THAT is the American Dream! Thank you Warren for being the best place a kid could ever grow up, affording me the opportunity to see the confluence of humanity. Because of you, I am an example of what is possible in the U.S.A when communities lay differences aside and pour into the next generation. I am the promise of America!

It’s hard to imagine Thad not being physically in the room when I return to the Burgh. However, I know his effervescent soul will send me the usual positive vibrations needed to stir the room. Thank you Thad Mosley for your friendship and love.
