Nearly 600 students at Bedford Elementary in Pikesville now have a beautiful new place to read, learn, and imagine.

When CHAI brought together school leadership and generous donors Phyllis & Louis Friedman earlier this year, a simple question: “Does Bedford have a Carson Reading Room?” sparked something big. With support from the Friedmans and the Carson Scholars Fund, that vision is now a reality.

Last week's opening featured student performances, remarks from Mrs. Candy Carson, a ribbon cutting, and a special read-aloud.

The Edward A. Myerberg Center recently welcomed Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, City Council President Zeke Cohen, and Councilman Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer in recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month.

During their visit, they spent time with members, learning more about the experiences, perspectives, and connections that make our community so special. The conversations were thoughtful, engaging, and filled with plenty of laughter.

Thank you to Mayor Scott, President Cohen, and Councilman Schleifer for taking the time to visit and engage with our members. Opportunities like these help strengthen the relationships that make Baltimore such a vibrant place to age, learn, and thrive.

More than 200 community members came together this spring to celebrate creativity, connection, and lifelong learning at the Edward A. Myerberg Center's Spring Art Show.

The event featured more than 100 original works created by Myerberg instructors and students, showcasing a wide range of artistic talent through ceramics, watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, and photography.

Events like this don't happen without tremendous effort behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported the artists, and helped make the show such a success.

As one of the Myerberg Center's recurring events that is free and open to the community, the Spring Art Show continues to create opportunities for people to come together, celebrate creativity, and connect with one another.
