Ever wonder if you’re applying your hair products in the right order? Here’s the science behind the perfect hair-layering routine. ✨

A successful hair routine is all about the art of layering products. Just like skincare, layering hair care in the correct order ensures each product can pe*****te and work effectively, giving you the best results.

1. Shampoo: Did you know you should shampoo twice?! The first shampoo helps to loosen up the dirt and grime from environmental exposures, sweat, and product build up. Then the second shampoo helps to remove it from your hair. (You’ll notice that second shampoo suds up a lot more 😉)

2. Conditioner: When applying conditioner you want to keep the bulk of the product on the mids to ends of your hair. Once the bulk of product is applied you can use the residue that remains to finger comb throughout the root to mids portion of the hair! (That part is optional!)

3. Leave-in conditioner or detangler: Use a spray or light cream on damp, towel-dried hair to add a base layer of moisture and smooth the cuticle.

4. Mousse, cream, or gel: This is where you add your styling products. Creams are great for moisture and smoothing while gels and certain creams are great for defining curls, and mousse adds volume and body.

5. Heat protectant: Use this crucial layer if you plan to use any hot tools, like a blow dryer, curling iron, or straightener.

6. Hair oil: Once your hair is dry, apply a hair oil to add shine, smooth frizz, and seal in moisture.
