We are beyond beyond excited to announce that this year we will hold the annual summer masterclass not just IN PERSON again from June 3-8, but in a truly magical and personally very meaningful location - on the idyllic grounds of the Marlboro Festival in beautiful Vermont.
Founded in 1951 by eminent pianist Rudolf Serkin, along with a remarkable group of artists including the great flautist and educator Marcel Moyse, Adolf and Herman Busch, the Marlboro Festival has played a vital role in developing generations of new musical leaders. I first became a part of the Marlboro family in my early student days, returning for various summers, and eventually evolving into my present and long-standing affiliation.
It would take a book to describe the impact this festival and all the great mentors and fellow musicians have had on my own musical development, and I deeply and profoundly cherish this special place and all it represents in our ever-changing world. So to have the opportunity to house the flute masterclasses on these very grounds in the off-season weeks before the start of the festival makes it more than just another location: it is a way of sharing the value, the meaning, and the unceasing ideology that has been a hallmark of this retreat.
At the Marlboro location, we will accept a more limited number participants than in the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. While we are happy and eager to already announce the place and the dates, we are still in the process of finalizing all the details, which should be made available in the next few weeks.
Please visit our website MPIMC.COM to check as the application details and deadlines become available. And of course, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] at any time.
