It is with profound sadness that we announce the on-duty death of active member EMT/Firefighter Juan Wilson.
Around 10pm on Monday, September 19, 2022, Engine Co. 53 was on scene of an EMS call in Southwest Baltimore. During patient care, EMT/FF Wilson suffered a medical emergency. Additional units were summoned and the other firefighters immediately began caring for their crew mate as well as the initial patient. Wilson’s heart had stopped beating and CPR was started. Once paramedics arrived, they began advanced level care and were able to regain a pulse. Wilson was transported to University of Maryland Medical Center in critical condition. He has been in the hospital since the event and after a long battle, passed away this morning, October 30, 2022.
EMT/Firefighter Wilson was 34 years old and an 11 year veteran of the Baltimore City Fire Department. He was assigned to Engine Co. 53 in Edmondson Village. Services are pending. All BCFD fire stations will half-staff the departmental flag until sunset day of the funeral.
The Baltimore Firefighters Union IAFF Local 734’s Widow’s and Orphans fund will assist the family during this ordeal. International Association of Fire Fighters Peer Support is being offered to our members. We ask that you pray for the Wilson family, friends of Juan’s, and those affected by his untimely passing.
