CorpsTHAT’s Inclusion Training Working with the Deaf Community in the Outdoors
Virtual Workshop | $50 per participant
June 23rd | 1-3pm

A 2-hour training session for outdoor partners and professionals who want to learn more about inclusion and access when working with or engaging the Deaf community in outdoor programming and conservation projects.

This training is designed for outdoor fields, including:
- Conservation: land managers and conservation corps
- Recreation: guides, park interpreters, and outdoor educators

Each training will cover:
- Introduction to the Deaf community and Deaf culture
- Resources for learning ASL
- Hiring qualified interpreters
- Working with interpreters and understanding boundaries
- Working with Deaf and hearing leaders
- Communication and safety in outdoor settings
- Minimizing risk and responding to emergencies

CorpsTHAT American Sign Language for the Outdoors Level 2 course is starting May 18th. Do you know how to greet yourself in ASL and have knowledge of some basic signs but want to learn more signs geared for the outdoors?! Take our level 2 course!

Level 2 - Class C: Tuesdays and Thursdays | 7-8 pm EST | 5/19 - 6/18

American Sign Language Level 2 is our Beginning- Intermediate Course. This level is for students who have beginning knowledge of ASL and are looking to continue their study. Students will learn basic conversational skills and vocabulary- in addition to learning how to describe directions and one specialized outdoor topic will be covered more in depth depending on students' interest in this course.
