The unaccountable class of government strikes again!!!
A family reportedly lost their home over a $2,200 property tax debt, and the courts declined to hear their appeal. Whether you see this as legal or not, it's difficult to justify a system where the government can take a home over such a small debt.
Property rights should be among our most protected freedoms, not something that can disappear through bureaucracy.
The family owed a tax debt of $2,200. The government sold their home at auction for $76,000. The market value for the home was $200,000.
The supreme court upheld the lower court's decision. With Justice, Samuel Alito having the nerve to say this: "neither the Fifth nor the Eighth Amendment requires the government to compensate former owners based on the hypothetical fair market value of their property."
"Hypothetical Fair Market Value"? This seems good enough for raising our property taxes in order to take money out of our pockets via real estate property taxes. But, it's viewed differently when it puts The Unaccountable Class at the disadvantage.

🏡 **A Different Perspective on Interest Rates**
Many people say, "I'm waiting for interest rates to come down."
Here's something to consider: today's mortgage rates aren't unusually high—they're much closer to historical norms. The real challenge is that home prices climbed to today's levels during a period when buyers enjoyed exceptionally low 2–3% mortgage rates.
If rates were to fall organically into the mid- to high-5% range, buyer demand would likely increase significantly. More competition could push home prices even higher, potentially offsetting much of the benefit of a lower interest rate.
For many buyers, waiting for lower rates may not improve affordability as much as expected. Buying the right home when you're financially ready—and refinancing later if rates decline—can often be a more effective long-term strategy.
Every buyer's situation is different, but it's worth looking at the full picture instead of focusing on interest rates alone.
