Baltimore City Overdose ALERT !!!! (Please share)

Behavioral Health System Baltimore and The Baltimore City Health Department, in partnership with the Baltimore City Fire Department, have detected two overdose spikes in the Sandtown-Winchester and Brooklyn/Curtis Bay sections of the city.

While the spike could be due to a number of causes, such spikes are often related to tainted or particularly potent he**in, including he**in laced with fentanyl. Please advise your staff, clients, and program participants to be careful, know who they are purchasing from and if they are trying something new, especially in these areas, to go slow. Encourage them to inform their family, friends, and neighbors and to get trained to administer the overdose-reversing medication Naloxone so they can be prepared to save a life.

While this message is directed specifically at Baltimore City residents, most of our readers are not immune. Due to our close proximity to the area, communities on the Eastern Shore of Maryland could possibly see a similar spike in overdoses. We would like to urge you to find a Naloxone Training in your area, and always be prepared to save a life.
