Yesterday students from Digital Harbor High School joined us for an oyster gardening boat trip! With their help we transported our FIRST oysters of the season from the Inner Harbor to the Chesapeake Bay.
Our oysters grow to one year old in the Baltimore Harbor, filtering water and improving water quality while they grow, before being taken to their forever homes in the Bay aboard a historic vessel.
Thanks to our students from DHH for helping us out and kicking off our season of oyster boat rides!

Better watch out- oysters are a gateway species to other filter feeders. 🚨 Before you know it, your teen will be trying to restore other critical species in the bay ecosystem 🦪😤
