A Brain Aneurysm Changed Our Lives Forever

I’ll never forget that phone call on May 16, 2004.
My brother said, “Ma passed out. She’s not breathing.”

Our mom suffered a brain aneurysm and spent months in the hospital. During her recovery, I taught myself how to make jewelry to help her heal.

Twenty-two years later, that same journey has grown into Beadly Speaking Jewelry, serving youth and adults across Maryland, DC, and Kenya through creativity, healing, and entrepreneurship.

Today, I reminded my mom what anniversary it was, and she hadn’t even thought about it. Life has a way of turning some of our hardest moments into purpose.
