To the birthing people living with pain weeks, months, years after delivery; I see you.
We often applaud the pregnant and birthing body for being “magic.” And sometimes it is. The ability to grow a human being is nothing short of absolutely bonkers amazing. Like their little hands get created as if from cellular cookie cutters. There is no denying it; we’re fu***ng incredible.
But sometimes the magic goes awry. For some (most) of us, the magic doesn’t do everything seamlessly; maybe the cells don’t work together properly while growing the tiny human or maybe we are left with broken bodies. It can feel easy to feel broken when our “magic” bodies don’t give us magic.

I’ve been pretty MIA on here due to finally getting the treatment for the chronic pain brought on by my pregnancy three years ago. My journey has included being gaslit about my pain, finding my own diagnosis, fighting with doctors and insurance, countless chiropractor and acupuncture appointments, and then finally ending up at where for the first time I felt SEEN.
My weeks now are punctuated by brutal myofascial massage, cupping, physical therapy, and painful injections from a physiotherapist once a month. It’s exhausting. And I’m grateful I finally found health professionals who can (hopefully) help me dig my way out of the pain.
I’m not really sure why I’m sharing all this except to say; if your body didn’t deliver 100% on the magic we were promised, you’re not alone. You’re not broken. You don’t need to suffer. And never give up on finding the people who will validate you instead of try to silence you. You deserve peace. You deserve to be believed. You deserve magic.

Can I hit the snooze just a few more times, please?
And while we’re at it, how about hitting the pause button? Pause on baby sleeping, pause on them being this little, pause on the moments the light hits their little faces just so.
Thank you for sharing this sweet photo of baby Emeline in her custom hand-stitched name bodysuit. 💗
