Elmo Zumwalt was a decorated U.S. Navy Officer who served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He rose through the ranks to become the youngest person to serve as Chief of Naval Operations, where he implemented numerous reforms to improve the lives of enlisted Sailors. Zumwalt passed away in 2000 at the age of 79.
