UMBC CSEE Professor Naghmeh Karimi and her students in SECRETS Lab, along with their collaborators, won the Best Hardware Demo award at the 2026 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware-Oriented Security and Trust. They demonstrated their research using PUFs ("physical unclonable functions") that use microscopic manufacturing variations in a semiconductor to generate a unique, unforgeable digital fingerprint for a specific device. https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/csee/posts/159893

iHARP AI Workshop Seminar on the Foundations of Large Language Models 04/10/2026

Dr. Josephine Namayanja and Rhoda Nankabirwa will lead a two-hour workshop seminar on The Foundations of Large Language Models from 2-4 pm ET on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 as part of the UMBC iHARP AI Workshop Series.
