Hampden Family Center
This summer, the Hampden Family Center was forced to suspend operations. With the support of devoted funders and advocates, the Board launched a vigorous 100-day study. Meeting weekly, we explored various staffing models, attempted to align ourselves with other service providers, and looked for new grant opportunities. Sadly, with the declining number of clients using our services, and our inability to secure tenants, the future viability of the Hampden Family Center has proved unsustainable.
Though we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to end operations, our collective care for the community has not wavered. Our immediate priority is to connect current clients with service providers in and around the Hampden area.
We are in discussions to relocate a community health coordinator, identify a place for un-housed clients to receive their mail, and we are exploring the possibility of a new type of organization that could serve as a catalyst for improving the quality of life in our neighborhood. Meantime, here are a few contacts:
· Individuals over age 55 in need of assistance can go to St Mary’s Outreach Center at 3900 Roland Ave. Please call (410) 366-3106 for appointments.
· WIC can be reached at 410-396-9427 for nearest locations.
· For all other emergent situations, please contact the Baltimore City Operator: (410) 396-3100.
Confident that the mission of the HFC will continue on through others, we look forward to seeing it manifest in a new vision that supports the Hampden of today. Thank you for your unwavering support that has played a pivotal role in serving Baltimore’s one-of-a-kind Hampden.
The Board of Directors extends our deepest gratitude for your commitment and care.
Good morning and Happy Snow Day! The center will be closed today due to weather and there will be no food distribution. We will see you next week. (Reminder: if Baltimore City Schools are closed due to weather, we will be closed.)
