BPD chief Brent Stratton dropped by on Tuesday to talk about the 4th of July enforcement effort, DUI numbers and the use of flock cameras to track a murder suspect who was located in Las Vegas.
OK, let's begin... a task force is going after illegal fireworks sellers and buyers on social media. More than 10,000 lbs so far, several arrests, one bust netted 5,000 lbs, and another broke up a fireworks manufacturing lab in Bakersfield! Officials say they still plan to go after people using the aerial bombs on Friday and Saturday, telling me they no longer need to 'catch' you in the act... that they have other ways, that could end up with you getting a citation in the mail. Think of it like a red-light camera... that's all they would tell me. Lots of people 'put up with it'... officials say those days are over.

It still takes my breath away when you see the thousand-flag display at the Park at Riverwalk! A surge of patriotism fills me... thanks to Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary and all their volunteers for making this happen every year!
