JOB SUMMARY:
The position offered is full time employment with Wheeler Ridge-Maricopa Water Storage District in the Operations and Maintenance Department. This person performs maintenance work on telemetering facilities such as radio-controlled
remote telemetry units, control room front end processors and remote controls.
Other duties include:
• Makes scheduled inspection and performs preventative maintenance of facilities.
• Installs equipment for additions or modifications to facilities.
• Maintains electric motors and control valves.
• Maintains programmable logic controllers, electrical motor control equipment and performs activities relating thereto.
• Performs tests and maintains records as required.
• Performs troubleshooting, testing and repairs of all electrical and electronic equipment
within the District's distribution system.
• Trains specified employees in operation and maintenance of telemetering facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess a valid California driver’s license and be able to provide a DMV report.
• Completion of two years curriculum in electronic technology similar to that given in California Junior Colleges or the equivalent thereof.
• Three years of experience in maintenance and repair of electrical and pumping equipment of equal or greater complexity than that utilized by the District.
• Education and experience may be substituted for each other on a year for year basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Must be able to traverse uneven ground (e.g., farm fields and construction work areas) while lifting and/or carrying equipment and tools up to 60 pounds in temperatures of 20 degrees Fahrenheit to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Demonstrate reasonable skills with hand tools and electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Operate and maintain all remote controls devices and radio-controlled telemetering facilities.
• Possess knowledge of electrical requirements within the District's Distribution system.
• Be responsible for trouble shooting electrical equipment on pumps, traveling water screens and check gates.
• Demonstrate the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with staff, customers, and vendors orally and in writing.
• Be able to fill out purchase orders as required and develop a professional and courteous relationship with other departmental staff.
• Be willing to work overtime and be available for call out.
Safety
This is a safety sensitive position, and all new personnel shall receive safety orientation upon employment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be issued to the employee at the expense
of the District.
Safety Guidelines include:
• Sound knowledge and practice of safety protocol as directed by Cal OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health administration) and ESFI (Electrical Safety Foundation International).
• Adherence to procedures directed by the District’s Code of Safe Practices.
• Assurance of proper fitment and function of PPE and any other safety related appurtenance.
