The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is concerned after learning of a data breach

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is concerned after learning of a data breach by the California Department of Justice that has made public the personal information of California citizens’ concealed weapon permit holders and other subjects as listed in the Department of Justice press release dated June 27, 2022.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is issuing this alert to make the affected Kern County residents aware of the situation so they can take appropriate precautions.

On June 29, 2022, the California Department of Justice provided a press release titled “California Department of Justice Alerts Individuals Impacted by Exposure of Personal Information from 2022 Fi****ms Dashboard.” The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the California Department of Justice in an attempt to determine what information from Kern County residents may have been compromised; however, we have been unable to obtain any further information specific to our residents.
