It is completely exhausting to spend all your energy building a career, a reputation, or a future entirely on your own terms, only to feel like it could all slip through your fingers tomorrow. We have all been there; we strive for personal gain because the culture around us insists that success is entirely up to our own efforts.
But there is a much better way. True security does not come from self-reliance or trying harder to control your circumstances. It comes when we lay down our personal agendas at the cross and let the Holy Spirit build through us. What we build for ourselves will eventually fade; however, what we surrender to God's Kingdom stands on a solid, eternal foundation. We do not have to carry the heavy weight of fabricating our own lives when we are fully alive in Him.
