It is with deep sadness that Perrysburg Township Fire & EMS Department announce the passing of Firefighter/Paramedic Troy Bernhard, after a long battle with occupational cancer.

Troy was a 28 year veteran of the Perrysburg Township Fire Department. Troy leaves behind a loving wife, Rachel, and two beautiful children, Samantha and Joseph.

Avon Firefighters will be in the Avon Commons all weekend collecting for MDA(Muscular Dystrophy Association). 100% of earnings go directly to the foundation. 14 years ago today the fire service lost a great firefighter and an even better person. Kevin Criss was a firefighter, husband, father, son and brother who was taken from us too early. Your story is passed on to newer firefighters who join our department. You are not forgotten!

Please keep driveways and sidewalks clear of snow and ice as best as possible. This helps our crews enter and exit homes safely. Keep fire hydrants clear of snow that may be covered by snow from the plows(usually 3 feet in all directions). Check on vents that may be covered by snow drifts. Also, if you have elderly neighbors check on them and help them out. Help us, help you!
